Hi everyone,
Is it possible to duplicate an app and simply switch it to a different Notion database while keeping the entire app configuration the same?
I’m trying to reuse the exact same layout, pages, views, filters, styling, and settings, but with a different database as the data source. At the moment, it seems like I have to rebuild and reconfigure everything from scratch.
Is there a way to change the database without losing all of the existing app setup?
Thanks in advance!
Greetings,
At the present time we don’t expose application cloning/copying outside of the administration panel. However, I think this would be a great feature for makers/builders to have at their disposal.
Allow us to put some thought around how we can do this. We’ll put this on the roadmap and you can follow progress in our community board.
As it relates to your additional questions: Today your application is linked to the current database, in the future when you use the clone function it will create a separate copy of the sheets used to support your application, and then bind it to new screens so that it doesn’t impact the original application (this is the part that we have to think through). The great news is that we already have the backend logic to do this when we convert and application to a template so it should not be a long development/test cycle.
