Basic analytics

It would be interesting to have basic analytics as number of sessions, pageviews of each app.

Or some kind of integration with Google Analytics

Thank you for the request, @Rodrigo_Mendes. We will add some analytics over the next couple of months. It will start with tracking the last login time of your users.

Would there be any plans to integrate with google analytics or any existing tracking services?

Yes, we do have a plan to allow third party scrips to be integrated into the system by the end of this year.

As for simple user analytics, they will be available later this month/early next month along with email/password based login.

This request is covered by a workaround, and it is on the roadmap as live.

Problem

Makers want session counts and page views for a published app, or a Google Analytics tag, so they can see how people use it.

Why this is a workaround

Custom JavaScript runs in the published app after it loads. That is where a measurement tag belongs, and the builder already has a place to paste it. Counts that come from Notion data, such as open jobs or a score, belong on a metric card. A separate analytics product inside NotionApps is not required for either job.

How to use it

Add Google Analytics, or another measurement tag.

  1. In the analytics product, create the property for this app and copy the snippet they give you. Use a snippet you understand. The script runs in every visitor’s browser, and it must not contain a secret.
  2. Open the app in the NotionApps builder. Go to the app settings area. Find Custom JavaScript.
  3. This setting is on Pro through Enterprise plans. If you do not see it, the plan does not include it.
  4. Enable Custom JavaScript and paste the snippet.
  5. Save, then publish the app.
  6. Custom JavaScript runs in the published app, not in the builder preview. Open the published app in a browser.
  7. In the analytics product, confirm the visit arrived. Click through two screens and confirm a second page view if the snippet records it.
  8. Repeat on a phone, because that is where many of your users are.

Show a number that already lives in Notion.

  1. Open a details or other view screen.
  2. Add a Metric Card and bind it to the number, formula, or rollup.
  3. Publish. The card shows that value. It does not count sessions.

Use the tag for traffic. Use the metric card for a value in the database. They answer different questions.
