[Live] Select Items: wrap long item names instead of truncating them

Problem

On a Select Items screen, each row shows the item name on one line and cuts the rest off. A search can return several parts that all read as the same cut-off prefix, such as “Replacement shock…” repeated down the list, followed by “Replacement shock mount…”, “Replacement shock bushing…”, and “Replacement shock stop…”. The person choosing a part cannot tell those rows apart. Switching the screen from List to Grid does not show the full name. Shortening the names in Notion is the only workaround, and that changes the source data so it will fit the row.

Who it is for

A maker building a selection step, especially on a phone, where the item name is long and several items share the same beginning.

What happens today

The Select Items row always draws the title, subtitle, and caption on a single line. Anything longer is replaced with an ellipsis. The radio button, search, and Select button stay on the screen. There is no builder control on that screen to show the rest of the name.

List screens elsewhere already have a Wrap Text setting. The same setting was started for Select Items and then hidden, because the selection row does not wrap yet. Turning it on would not change this screen.

Requirement

A maker can turn Wrap Text on for a Select Items screen. When it is on, the title shows in full, wrapping onto as many lines as the name needs. The subtitle and caption do the same when those fields are shown. When Wrap Text is off, the row stays one line with an ellipsis, which remains the default so existing apps do not change.

The row grows taller to fit the wrapped text. The radio button or checkbox stays aligned with the first line. Search, filters, and the Select button keep working. The same setting applies on the phone and on desktop, in List and in Grid.

Out of scope

This does not change the names stored in Notion. It does not add a separate “show full name” mode that opens another screen. It does not turn Wrap Text on for every Select Items screen.

Acceptance

  • With Wrap Text off, a long item name still truncates to one line, matching today’s screen.
  • With Wrap Text on, a long item name is fully readable without opening the row.
  • Two items that share a long prefix can be distinguished on the list.
  • A short name still uses one line.
  • Selecting a radio button and tapping Select still chooses that item.
  • An existing Select Items screen that has never set Wrap Text still truncates.

Now live: Wrap Text for Select Items.

Open the Select Items screen in the builder and turn on Layout → Wrap Text. Long titles, subtitles, and captions now expand instead of ending with an ellipsis in both List and Grid, on phone and desktop. Search, filters, scrolling, and selection continue to work as before.

Wrap Text is off by default. If an older screen already had a saved Wrap Text = true value while the control was hidden, that screen will begin wrapping after this release.

This was a frontend-only change; there was no backend, sync, API, or Notion data change.
